Why, in a society with such advanced medical technology, would a mother not know the moment she was confirmed as pregnant also know she's having twins, and that one is a boy and one a girl? Heck, she ought to have a complete genetic profile on her kids with extremely realistic projections of what they'll look like when they grow up. "Yes, you are pregnant, your son is going to have his father's nose but your eyes and ears, your daughter will be a brunette, yada yada yada..." Maybe she never told anyone else, but she herself refers to "the baby" rather than "babies".

Death Stars sure take a long time to construct, don't they? We see the basic framework laid out before we see the infants delivered to their respective homes. Luke goes from infant to adult in the time it takes to complete the project. Of course, the rebellion also has slow spies, since it takes just as much time to steal the plans. "Many spies died to bring us these plans, several of them from old age." The second Death Star either gets half-constructed much more quickly, or it was started a lot earlier than the destruction of the first. Did the same spies who stole the plans manage to overlook it?
